WOMAN SHOT IN HER HOME.

DISTURBER OF DOMESTIC PEACE.

Having brooded for days over tho fact that his wife had left him, Robert Kann, a New York civil engineer, shot and badly injured Mrs. Annie Klein, concerning whom he and Lis wife had quarrelled a few weeks ago. The man was captured by policemen after a chase and just in time to prevent him from reloading his revolver, which, he told the police, he intended to use on them. He fired eix Ciots at his victim, four of which took otrect, The woman was struck twice in tho right arm and was shot through the right ear. The troubles of the Kanes began on May 1, when Mrs. Kane, becauso her husband would not tell ■ her why he • spent many evenings away from home, undertook to find out for herself and traced him to the house where Mrs. Klein lived with her father. She watched the house until Kane left it, then entered and begau to upbraid Mrs. Klein. She had with her a revolver, which she said belonged to her husband and on flourishing it was arrested, but later was released. Then she refused to live longer with her husband.

Kane, after vainly trying to win back his wife, became desperate and, arming himself, to Mrs. Klein's home. He was met at the door by her father, Mr. Bondorff, who asked him to go away. As ho was arguing with Mr. Bondorff, Mrs. Klein appeared on the stairs and shouted to Kane to " Get out He brushed tho man aside, and began shooting at tho woman. When he had emptied his revolver, ho fled to the street.

The driver'of v. brewery truck jumped from his waggon and tried to stop Kane, who struck him over the head with the butt of his revolver and knocked him unconscious. Kane disappeared, only to be arrested a ' few moments later. At the police station Kane declared that he would liavo shot tho policemen if he had had time to reload hie weapon.
