BRITISH TEAM'S TOUR.

LACK OF INFORMATION.

DEFINITE ITINERARY ARRANGED. ■ j Considerable dissatisfaction was expressed by the members of the Council of Manage- ; ment of tho New Zealand Rugby League last evening when the matter of the British team's New Zealand tour was discussed. It was reported ; that although the secretary | had communicated many times with the managers of the visiting team, he had not received a single letter m reply. The only communications ho . had received were a number of vers contradictory cables, and the result was \that the council knew practically nothing of the visitors' intentions. The proposed itinerary had. been submitted to them, but the replies were so mixed as far as dates were concerned that no headway had been made. Several leagues in i New Zealand, besides other bodies, bad written to the council asking for information in regard to the visitors* movements i so that arrangements might be made, and j in each instance the secretary was com-1 pelled to reply that thore was no information to give. . ■ At the previous meeting of the council it was found that the Hawke'e Bay League —which, in the itinerary originally proposed, had been allotted ft match against the Englishmen on July 18— rendered itself ineligible for ft game, aa--it had not complied with a certain rule of the New Zealand League, and July 18 was therefore allotted to Wellington, which had previously not been included in the! itinerary. Information to this effect was uont to the English managers, and at last night's meeting of tho council a c*bl»d reply was placed before the" members, which read: "Under promiso < play Napier Ju.y 18. Arrange accordingly. ' Members wished to know, to whom .the promise had been made, as it had certainly not been made through the New Zealand Council, and Mr. F. Gladding, the Hawke's Bay delegate, explained that his league had been in direct communication with the English team, which news was rcgaraed with much disfavour by the council. " I'm tired of the whole business." eaid Mr. A Powell. "Let the English team stop fit. homo. We will do better without them. They are taking 65 peT cent, of the grosi proceeds of each match, and yet they won't Jet us know their arrangements." It was pointed out that there was no information from Canterbury as to whether that league desired a match on July 16 us previously arranged, and that the Canterbury delegate had not attended the last two meetings of the council, and it was eventually resolved to leave Canterbury out of the arrangements, in favour of Hawke's Bay, who had since complied with the rule reAfter a considerable discussion it was decided to draw up an itinerary which would bo absolutely final, and the following was decided upon:— .

Arrive at Auckland. July 12. Play l Hawke's Bay, July 15. . Play Wellington. July 18. Play Taranaki. July 23. Play Auckland, July 25. • Play Wanganui, July 80. Play New Zealand at Auckland, August L Lea 76 Auckland for Sydney. August 3. "That's the end of it," remarked the president- (Mr. Jatnos Carlaw). "That itinerary will cot bo altered under any consideration. If the Englishmen don't like it, they can 'stop away." His remarks met wiih general approval.
