OBITUARY.

DEATH OF MRS. J. L. WILSON.

Tire death occurred yesterday morning of Mrs. Mary Ellen Wilson, widow of tho late Mr. Joseph Listen Wilson, one of tho original partners in the firm of Messrs. Wilson and Horton, proprietors of tie Mew Zealand Herald. Tho deceased lady, who was 69 years of ago, and who resided in Remuera, had been in indifferent health for some time past.

The late Mrs. Wilson, who, before her marriage, was a Miss Martyn, of a wellknown Waikato family, was a generous donor to a larse number of institutions in Auckland, ajid was held in high esteem by a large circle of acquaintances. She leaves a grown-up family, consisting of four sons—Messrs. A. L. Wilson, R. M. Wilson. Joseph M. Wilson, and J. M. Wilson, all of whom reside in Auckland— and of one maried daughter, Mrs: C. A.
