NORTHCOTE CLUB, j The third annual meeting of "tho Waite- ! mat* Croquet Club was held in the! ] Masonic Hall, Northcote, on Monday! < evening. Mrs. P. W. Holland (president) j j occupied tho chair. j The annual report and balance-sheet, « which showed the club to be in a strong J position financially and numerically, was ; ] adopted. The membership list showed 50 : i playing members and 20 honorary mem- * bars, the subscriptions amounting to £57 ( ss. Donations amounting to £18 15s were < received, including £17 gained as the ro- \ suit of a benefit entertainment tendered ] by Miss Winifred Uillibrand. The sur- c plus from socials amounted to £33 6s 4d, and pavilion subscriptions to £14 8s 6d, E making the total receipts £153 18s lOd. ] The expenditure included £78 9s for lawn p formation, £9 17s lOd for lawn mainten- * ance, and £35 3s lid for lawn requisites ; ? the total expenditure was £131 13s sd, li leaving a balance in hand of £22 5s sd. The report stated that the lawns would be * second to none in Auckland during the b coming season. s Special votes of thanks were passed to { Miss W. Gillibrand, for promoting the bene- fi fit performance; to Mr. Deighton for hisser- ' vices in top-dressing the lawns; and to Mr, J Jae. Fearnley (ground superintendent) for n the excellent manner in which the lawns v were prepared during tho first season of I 1 Play. {J Miss Winifred Gillibrand was unanira- a jusly elected a life member of the club. , It was decided to alter the name of the i, :lub to that of tho Northcote Croquet if Club, to set apart one day each week for *' the instruction of new players, and to „ hold the next social on July 6. ■* The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr, Jas. ?! frounson; president, Mrs. J.
