— »*~ ; AMENDING THE ACT. By Telegraph—Press Association— (Received June 10, 10.20 p.m.) London, June "10. Thb House of Commons has passed the second reading of an Amending Bill to the Insurance Act dealing with unemployment. The policy of tho Act is not changed by this. The amendment is directed . towards cheapening the administration and towards bringing more trades and callings under the scope of the Act. Critics urged that the Bill would relieve tho Treasury alone.
