MOUNT ROSKILL AFFAIRS.

CHARGE FOR" WATER. The monthly meeting of the Mount Roskill Road Board was held last night. There were present Messrs. J. Peet (chairman), H. Hayr, G. Winstono, H. Luke, J. Parr, J. H. Hopkins, and W. H. Woodward. A letter was received from the Mount Eden/• Borough Council asking if the Mount Roskill Road Board would join with it-in bearing one-half of the cost of tho work required on the Landscape Road. The chairman and Mr. Woodward were appointed to wait upon the Mount Eden Borough Council to discuss the matter. A letter was received from the Auckland Tramways Company asking for a reduction in the charge for wator supplied by Mount Roskill to Is per 1000 gallons instead of Is 6d, as at present. The chairman remarked that the board was paying la per 1000 gallons for the water, and it could, not .sell it at cost price. The request was declined. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote intimating that the board s contribution for charitable aid. would be £475, based on the valuation of the district, whifii was £741,002. : The board's contribution last year was £270. * Five tenders were received for supplying one arid two horse teams, and also for - carting' scoria, etc. T. H. Casey's lender was accepted for carting, the price being, 14s 6d for a single horse and dray, and 188 for a two-horse team. Mr. W. West was reappointed registrar and dog ranger. •
