The total quantity afloat for the United Kingdom is 3.290.000 quartern and for the Continent 1,930,000. Atlantic shipments total 159.000 and Pacific coast 3000. The total for Europe from America is 1.245,000 and from Australasia 280,000.
COPRA. Small business in South Sea in bags at £25 2s 6d to £26.
COTTON. f April-May, 6.905 d per lb. 1 HEMP. Strong at a high point. Fair April- ' June, £26 10s. RUBBER. i Para, 2s lljd; plantation, 2s 7;d; . smoked, 2s 7^(l. PRICES OF METALS. Tin : The market is demoralised on ■ heavy realisations, largely due to the [ financial position arising from Mexican . troubles, but good consumptive business is I proceeding. Tinplates, £6 14s. [bt telegraph.— association.] Wellington, Monday. The High Commissioner's market report, datod London, April 25, is as follows :— MUTTON. The market is becoming more depressed on account of large arrivals. The demand has been chiefly for light-weight Canterbury, 4 a d; heavy-weight, difficult to sell, 3£d. North Island, 4jd for light-weight. LAMB. Fair demand for belter grades. The market has been unfavourably affected by lower prices of mutton. Canterbury, twos heavy-weights s|d ; other than Canterbun, 5 15-16 d for light-weight. BEEF. Tho market is very dull, and quotations are nominal. Hinds." 4?d; fores, 3Jd. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. Chilled hinds, 4|d: fores, 3 5-16 d. BUTTER. The market is quiet, but rather steadier. Danish, fair demand, lWs to 116s; New Zealand, fair demand. 106s to 108s; unsalted, ditto, 114s to 118s; Australian, 100s to 104s: exceptionally choice ditto, 108s; Argentine, market slow, 98s to 102s; Siberian, in poor demand, 99s to 102s; American creameries, 98s to 100s. CHEESE. The market is firmer, with fair demand for New Zealand. For Canadian the market is quiet. White. 68s to 70s; coloured, 69s to 71s; New Zealand, white 61s 6d to 625. coloured 64s to 64s 6d; Australian, white 59s 6d to 60s, coloured 62s to 635. HEMP. The market is excited on account of the Mexican crisis, and prices have been advancing rapidly. The Manila market is firmer, shippers holding off. Fair current, £28 May "to July shipments, £29. Tho output from Manila for the week was 20.000 bales. For New Zealand hemp tho market is very firm, and business has been done in high points at £25 10s, to-day's value. June and Julv shipments are about £26 10s. Fair sold at £24 10s during this week, and is now quoted at £25 10s. Good fair is. nominally £27, but there are no sellers. SISAL. Landed sisal is nominally unchanged, but no offers are obtainable from Mexico, as it appears probable the war will likely prevent shipment of stocks. TOW. The market is firmer, Spot .sales this week include: Third grade, £13; second grade, £14. WOOL. The market is firm, with a hardening tendency for merinos and fine croesbreds of all grades. Prospects are favourable. HOPS. The market is steady, with improved demand. English, 120s to 150s; Continental, 100s to 200s; Californian, 80s to 110s.
