EXCITEMENT ON FRONTIER.

FEDERAL BOMBARDMENT.

KILLED DURING SKIRMISH. Washington, April 25. The Mexican Federals here opened the campaign against the United States by destroying the public buildings in Nueva Laredo, where the United States Consulate is in flames. The damage cannot yet be ascertained. They have now turned their guns across the boundary, and are trying to deal similarly with the American town of Laredo. Intense excitement is reported. Dynamite was freely used at both places, which arc flourishing border towns. Several Americans were killed during a skirmish that took place outside Nueva Laredo. The Mexicans, also suffered some loss. Many volleys were fired into Laredo, but it is not believed that much damage was caused. All the available American troops have been despatched to make a concentrated attack on the enemy. A danger spot is developing at Fort Bliss, where, owing to the diversion of the American garrison to other points, 5000 Mexicans are interned in a poorly-guarded barbed-wire enclosure. The Mexicans arc chiefly Federal soldiers and their wives, who fled from Ojinaga some months ago when pursued by the rebels under Villa. The American Government intends to take them to a point sufficiently distant from the border to ensure safe keeping.
