DOMINION REFEREES.

CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND. A conference of New Zealand Kugby league Referees Association commenced in tho Phoenix Chambers on Friday last. Present: Messrs. McCarthy (Napier), convener. Proctor (Hawko's Bay). Pcrrctt (Taranaki). Barber , Wellington). Benson (Auckland Evans (Wanganui). Tucker (Nelson), an-' several other Auckland referees. Mr Proctor (Hawke'o Bay) was elected to tho chair. It was decided to form an association to be called the New Zealand League Football Referees' Association, which should have for its objects, (a) to secure - uniformity in and control of the interpretations and rulings by referees on the laws of the League game in Now Zealand; (bl to assist the New Zealand Rugby Football League in providing referees for inter-union and inter-colonial matches. A pro forma set of rules and by-laws were read, discussed, and adopted. Mr. McCarthy was elected secretary and treasurer for the ensuing season, and it was decided that headquarters should be located at Napier. Remits from Napier advocating representation of referees' associations on provinc il leagues was considered and approved. It was also decided to apply for representation of the New Zealand Referees' Association on tho New Zealand Rugby League Council of Management. WELLINGTON GAMES. [by TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Sunday, Tho League football competition was commenced yesterday. Results are as follows Suburbs beat Athletic by 29 points to 11, and Newtown bent I'etone by 6 points to 2.
