CRICKET.

THE TEST MATCH.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW.

Great interest is being taken, locally and throughout the Dominion, in the second test match between Australia and New Zealand, which will commence at Eden Park at noon to-morrow. The Southern members of the New Zealand team will arrive in Auckland by this morning's express, and the Australians will arrive in the afternoon. The former will stay at the Central Hotel, and the Australians at the Royal.

With such famous cricketers playing as the Australian team includes, it is to be hoped that the weather conditions will not prove unfavourable, and although the wicket is naturally a little soft just at present, it should be in good order by to-morrow if a fairly strong wind and sun are experienced to-day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Council, held recently, Hemus was appointed to captain the New Zealanders. Everything possible is being done in the way of conveying spectators to the ground. Cars will ran from the city every few minutes, and for the convenience of Parnell, Remuera, and Newmarket residents a special train will leave Newmarket at 2.5 p.m., returning right through to Auckland about 5.40 p.m.

CHURCHES' ASSOCIATION.

SENIOR COMPETITION.

TIE FOR FIRST PLACE.

In the Churches' Association senior shield competition Y.M.C.A. and Croydon have tied for first place with 12 points each, and consequently a play-off is necessary. The game is to De played to a finish, and, therefore, as the season is already far advanced, play will commence on Saturday, though owing to the test match at Eden Park all the association's other fixtures have been postponed. A close contest should be witnessed between the teams, for although Croydon has twice met and defeated Y.M.C.A. this season the latter team is now much stronger than it was earlier in the season. The match will be played at Victoria Park.
