SIR JOSEPH WARD'S VISIT.
Citizens of Auckland, without distinction of party, axe gratified that Sir Joseph Ward has decided to address them on the political situation. The utterances of the Leader of the Opposition, whoever he may be, are always entitled to careful consideration, but apart from his present official position, Sir Joseph Ward would command attention. He has long held a distinguished place in the public life of the Dominion, and in | the larger sphere of Imperial politics he has brought earnestness and enthusiasm and patriotism to bear on the difficult problems of Empire. Sir Joseph's visit to Auckland will be all the more welcome should he deem it prudent to give an authoritative statement of the policy of the Opposition Party, but he must be allowed to' judge for himself whether the time is yet opportune. Whatever may be the burden of his speech tonight, his personal qualifications and public service entitle him to a warm welcome and an -attentive hearing.
