DELAYED BY OCTOPUS.
An unusual cause is said to have contributed to the delav of the steamer Wes< tralia on the passage to Lyttelton from Dunedin on her way to Auckland. When, the vessel left Dunedin the engineers dis-f covered that the circulating pump was^ o * working in a satisfactory manner, this greatly reducing speed. At Lyttelton » diver made investigations and discovered* in the aperture of the pump the partly? mutilated body of a largo octopus.
