THE GREAT " OUT OF DOORS."
WHY WOMEN SHOULD LOVE NATURE. AtCKLAN-DEBS, of all people anywhere, can never plead to lack of opportunity for enjoying the great "out of doors." By forest, by river, and by field we travel when hot summer days drive us from the city; even if it is only for an afternuoni we may find refreshment by open beaches, clear blue waters, and shady parks. .Men know how to enjoy these things, and women too, although they may not find quite such frequent opporiunitv for enjoyment. A modern writer says, however, that women oughtsto know nature better than they do, for nature, too, is a lady. How Nature Charms. He proves his statement thus: "She's charming to begin with ; she's variable in mood, and this constitutes half her attraction ; she's steadfast in her purpose; she's capricious in her temperament; she loves beautiful clothes, and wears them gloriously—delicate greens in the spring, brilliant reds and blues and purples and violets in the summer, rich and restful browns in the autumn. Her face is fair, and she loves to whisper secrets in the winds, and the voice of her tinkling brooks is surely feminine, and delicate, and wholly gladsome.'' This is.all very true so true that it should help every nature-lover to love and understandnature better, for love of her and recollection of her gracious beauty helps wonderfully in brightening up the path that has grown dull and dreary
