A few minutes before 7 a.m. yesterday the Canadian-Australasian mail liner Makura Captain J. D. 3. Phillips, arrived in port from Sydney direct, after a fino weather passag© of three days 18 hours. The vessel berthed at the Queen's Wharf to commence loading for way ports >and Vancouver. She is lifting a large quantity of butter and other products here for the Canadian port. TERRIER SAILS. The Norwegian steamer Terrier was floated out of Calliope Dock yesterday morning and anchored in the stream to receive bunker coal from one of the Westport Coal Company's hulks. The difficulty which was ex jiorienced in regard to the wooden strips in the vessel's stern bush was satisfactorily overcome. In addition to having repairs effected to her propeller, a blade of which was lost while the steamer was on her way from South America to Newcastle, minor repairs were carried out to the steering gear and other fittings. The work was done under the supervision of Captain C. C. Pluukett.

According to a telegram received from Hokianga, the bavquentine Senorita. passed ■ the heads, bound South, on Thursday. A mistake has probably been made in the identity of the vessel sighted, as the Senorita loft Newcastle on February 26, coal-laden, for Auckland, and is therefore 16 days out. BUTESHIRE AT MELBOURNE. . A -Press Association message received from Melbourne states that the Federal-Shire liner Buteshire arrived at the Victorian port on Thursday from Liverpool, via St. Vincent and Capetown. The vessel is en route to the four New Zealand main perls, and after visiting Sydney comes on to Auckland. She is clue hero rbout March 25. OPAWA TO LOAD.
