AMBULANCE SATURDAY.
THE STREET COLLECTION.
That a special effort must be made this year to raise funds for the St. John, Ambulance Association was the decision. arrived at by the members of the Ambulance Saturday Ladies' Committee which met in the association building yesterday JmorniAig. The Mayoress (Mrs. C. J. Parr) presided. The secretary explained that all the money the association now has in hand was £1 5s 3d, while the sum of £250 was still required to finish the building. In addition there was no reserve fund for the upkeep of the building. The expenses of the past year had been very heavy, £80 having had to be expended in fees for lectures given by medical men. Unless some scheme were devised by which a substantial sum of money could be raised, the association would be in a very bad way. After some discussion, it was decided to make the usual street collection, the date fixed upon being Saturday, March 28. la addition to the ordinary collection, it was resolved that some novel way of attracting public interest to the work of the association should be devised, and a further meeting of the committee was called for Monday, March 16. Several of the collecting stands were allotted, and Miss Edmiston was deputed to ask various restaurant-keepers for refreshments for the collectors. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mrs. Pair for nresidintr.
