AMERICANS AT HAMILTON. ; VISITORS IN GOOD FORM. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Sunday. The American athletes made their final appearance here yesterday, when they competed in several events. Parker failed in both the 100 and 220 yards events, the handicaps being too severe. The 100 yds was won in 9 3-ss. Parker's time being 10s. Only two started in the hurdle/, and although Templeton led Stewart, o£ 'Auckland, who was receiving 6yds, over (he last hurdle, the latter beat him in the run home. Power was in good form and won both the half-mile and one mile easily. Caughey easily won the putting the shot event, and subsequently put 44ft 10} in. Should his put of 45ft OJin at Palmerston not be recognised owing to there being no guard board, this put will stand as an Australasian record, as it beats the previous best by Kin. Templeton easily won' the long jump with 20ft 3in, but in the high jump Russell, Sin, cleared sft oin, and Templeton could not reach the necessary sft llin. He gave a. fine display of pole-jumping durI ing the afternoon.

AXEMEN AT TAKAPUNA. One of the interesting features of the Waitemtita Show, at Takapuna, on Saturday, was the chopping competition. The entrants included some notable axemen, Dave Pretty (ex-champion of the world), Wm. Peck (champion of Australia), and J. O'Sullivan (exworld's champion sawyer). Pretty was obviously not up to his usual-form, and in, the underhand chop competition gave up after a few strokes of the axe, having encountered a more than usually tough piece of timber. He \ succeeded, however, in beating allcomers in the ' Farewell Chop. Peck came out winner in the Standing Chop, and premier" honours in the Underhand Chop went to O'Sullivan. ■ ■ Following were the results:— Standing Chop Handicap, 15in: W. Peck, scr, 1; J.
