OBITUARY.

SIR GEORGE ROSS.

By Telegraph Press Association— Copyright. (Received March 8, 5.5 p.m.) Ottawa, March 7. The death is announced of Sir George William Ross.

The late Sir George Ross was born near Nairn, Middlesex County, Canada, in 1841. He received his education in Canada, and was called to the Bar in 1887. He acted as M.P. for West Middlesex from 1872 to 1882, after that was Minister for Education from 1833 to 1899, and Premier and Treasurer of the Province of Ontario from 1899 to 1905. He was called to the Senate of Canada in 1907.
