Later advice received by the New Zealand bnipping Company states that the steamer Lairnross, en route from Montreal to New Zealand ports, continued her voyiwio from Sydney at 4 p.m. on Tuesday last. The vessel is duo here on Sunday afternoon. The Kowhai arrived at Onehunga yesterday morning, from Picton. with a load of chaff. She is limed to sail at noon to-day for Greymouth direct. . The Wairuna is expected to clear this evening or Newcastle, where she loads another cargo of coal for Auckland. Tho Kaituna is e-pected to leave Westport to-morrow for Auckland, with a full cargo of coal. The Kini is to leave Westport tomorrow, coal ladcta, for New Plymouth and Onehunga. The schooner Awanui will probably sail this afternoon with general cargo for East Coast bays and Gisborno. Heavy weather on the East Coast was responsible for the auxiliary schooner Orete being delayed at Orete Point for several days last week. The Craig steamer Ihumala arrived at Gisborno from Newcastle yesterday morning. The New Zealand Shipping Company's •learner Kaipara arrived at Avonmou'h on Wednesday last from Wellington, via Monte Video. The vessel left the Southern port on January 18. THIS WEEK'S SYDNEY STEAMER. The local office of tho Union Company is advised that the turbine steamer Maheno was despatched from Sydney at 1 p m. on Wednesday for Auckland direct. The vessel is bringing 97 »aloon and 117 steerage passengers, and a large quantity of general cargo for New Zealand. She is due here about noon on Sunday. LOUISA CRAIG SAILS. Cable advice received by Messrs. J. J. Cray?. Limited, states that the barque Louisa Craig sailed from Edithburg (South Australia) yesterday afternoon for Auckland. She is bringing a cargo of salt, bark, and gypsum. The vessel was to have left Adelaide yesterday for Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. She is due here about March 22. JOHN HARDIE LEAVES NEW YORK. A cable message received from New York states that the Vacuum Oil Company's chartered steamer John Hardie cleared the American port on February 23 for Auckland, Wellington Lvttelton. and Dunedin. She is bringing a full cargo of case oil for the ports named, and is due here early in May. KAIKOURA AT HOBART.

The New Zealand Shipping Company's Uner a V K)u % which left London on January 22 for Wellington and Lyttelton, via way ports, arrived at Hobart yesterday. The vessel is ranging in the regular oassencor and mail service. She leaves Hobart this evening for Wellington, where she is due on Wednesday. March 11. STRANGER FROM SOUTH AMERICA. An unexpected arrival at Auckland early yesterday morning was the Norwegian cargo steamer Terrier, 5122 tons, Captain H. Thorscn. The vessel left Corral (South America) on January 29. m ballast, for Newcastle but when she was nine days out she lost one of her propeller blades, which was attributed to the propeller striking some submerged object. A few days after the mishap the Terrier encountered very heavy weather, and in her partially disabled qonaition very little headway was made. The captain decided to put. into Auckland to have repairs effected iv7?£ to Calliope Dock being occupied by HMS. PyTamiiß it will probably be this afternoon before the dock will be available to accommodate the Terrier. BARQUE JOSEPH CRAIG SOLD. Yet another Craig sailer, the iron barque Joseph Craig, has just been purchased by the . rfuddart Parker Company from J J Craig and Co., with the intention of converting her into a coal hulk. The Joseph Craig, which is under command of Captain W. J. Airey is now loading coal at Newcastle for Auckland. The vessel was formerly known as the Dunblane. She was built in 1878 by D and W. Henderson. Ihe Joseph Craig is a vessel of 751 tons gross, and 694 tons net. Her principal dimensions are: Length, 187 ft Sin; beam, 31ftdepth, 18ft sm. MOVEMENTS OF CLAN STEAMERS. The following movements are announced in > connection with several vessels of the Clan Lino, which are to visit New Zealand during the next few weeks: — The Clan Ma-cdonald is due at Auckland at any tune now from South Africa. The vessel will load a big shipment or wool and general cargo here for Dunkirk and London She will afterwards visit at least two Southern ports to complete her loading, and is to be despatched finally from the Dominion about March 18. The Clan Maelaren will not now visit Auckland for Homeward loading, as was previously arranged. This vessel is at present at Port Pine, and is to proceed from the Australian port to the Bluff. Dunodin, and Wellington, to load She will be despatched from Wellington about March 25 for Dunkirk. Hamburg, and Antwerp. The Clan Malheson. 4775 tons, Captain W Hums, has been fixed to follow the Clan Mscdonald on the loading berth at Auckland This vessel was to have left Bunbury on Tuesday last for Auckland with a cargo of hardwood. She is due here about March 16 and on completion of discharge will load woo! and general cargo for London. The Clan Mfltheson will afterwards visit Wellington and probably Picton. to comnlete her loading Hhfe is to leave the Dominion about April 10 for the Home port. NOTICE TO MARINERS. Napier Harbour.—Erection of new lightThe Napier Harbour Board has notified that for the convenience of steamers leaving the Glasgow Wharf, Breakwater Harbour, on dirty or hazy nights a lamp has been erected on the Breakwater Road about 715 yards 1021 degrees (North. 87 degrees East magnetic) from the north extreme of Glasgow Wharf, The light is to be a fixed red gas light 18ft above high water, are of visibility 169 degrees (South 364 degrees East magnetic) to 197* degrees (South 2 degrees West magnetic), and should be visible for a distance of one mile. The light will only be shown when vessels are leaving the harbour on and after March 7, 1914. Charts, etc.. affected: Admiralty
