THE LOAN PROPOSALS. PLANS FOR NEW BATHS. PROPOSED SEASIDE PARK. The loan proposals put forward by the Grey Lynn Borough Council for street improvements, and other important works were further Considered by a special meeting of the council last evening. The borough engineer (Mr. H. Munro Wilson) was in attendance. The details in connection with the proposals will probably be completed in another fortnight and the council will then take steps to place them before the ratepayers.. Several meetings of Ihe ratepayers v are to be called in | various parts of the borough at which the A scheme will be fully explained. The proposals among other important ? ■ matters, deal with the provision of public P baths*, a park, and a boat harbour. With, ; the object of providing these utilities the A Borough Council recently acquired v an ■■']. \ area of'6o acres at Cox's C.eek from the Murine Department. It is proposed that- £ on 32 acres of the site baths should be; i erected, and.a boat harbour made, while it is proposed that the remaining 28 acres after being reclaimed should be utilised ' as -a park. Plans for the baths have been prepared./ by the engineer, and he has stated that, rag constructed, the baths should compare favourably with any in Auckland. Their ' plans make provision for a swinuoing pool- ' 160 ft by 60ft, with a sloping ferro-concrete > \ floor, and a wide platform all round the ; J pool, also in ferro-concrete. Accommoda- - tion is provided for 2000 spectators in the :lj event of swimming sports being held. Adequate caretaker's quarters are provided, together with a ticket office and attendants' rooms, while provision is also made in the plans for ample dressingrooms, shower-baths, and lavatory accommodation. Entrance to the proposed baths will be from West End Road, anc the elevation to this thoroughfare is neatly designed.

In regard'to the boat harbour, the engineer proposes to deepen the channel, so as to ensure a depth of 6ft of water at low spring tides.
