NEW PICTURE THEATRE.
A new picture theatre, to bo called the Empress, is to be built on the site now occupied by the old St. George's Hall; in Great North Road. The old hall is to be completely demolished, while the plans of the new theatre provide for a fine up-to-date structure. Tenders for the work have been received and these are now be--1 ing considered by the directors *of the J syndicate which has control ■of the new J venture. Operations in connection with I the proposed building will be commenced immediately.
