London, January 25. The permanent secretary of the Board of Trade (Sir H. Llewellyn Smith), in giving evidence on Saturday before the Empire Trade Commission, said he knew of important instances where trade which had passed to foreign competitors had been recovered through the aid of Trp.i'o Commissioners stationed in the Dominions, It was impracticable to make the commercial intelligence system inter-Imperial.
