THE LOST SUBMARINE.

MESSAGES OF SYMPATHY. RESCUERS TOIL IN VAIN.' By Telegraph Press —Copyright. • (Received January 20. 12.5 a.m.) London, January 19. Torpedo boat destroyers were sweeping Whitesand Bay (Cornwall) on Sunday trying to locate the lost submarine. Yesterday's efforts to locate the submarine proved futile. The King has sent a message that he is deeply grieved at the loss of valuable lives, and expresses his sincere sympathy with the relatives. The Kaiser, Admiral von Tirpitz, and most of the heads of the Powers, have sent messages of sympathy. Italy has offered the Admiralty the use of a submarine now at Plymouth.
