RACECOURSE GAMBLING.
Sir,—lt is passing strange that with the vast increase of gambling, as seen by the totahsator returns, the churches are silent about the evil. When half a million of money wen; through the machine annually, the churches were up in arms about it: now, over three millions annually they are silent. Out of about 200 ministers in or about Auckland, I only know of one who is lifting up his voice against it. AXTI Gambles.
