London, January 9. Hf.rr Mueller pave evidence yesterday in the court-martial of Colonel von Renter and Lieutenant Sehad. in connection with the riots at Zabern (Alsace). He said ho had interviewed Colonel von Renter on November 28, when the latter said : " It, would be a good thing if blood flowed." Two civilians, giving evidence, said they had pointed out tjiat the people of Zabern were doing nothing. They could not be prevented from standing 'about. Colonel von Renter replied that he was resolved to prevent standing about, and, further, that he would not. allow people, to laugh. If that continued he would shoot them. Colonel von Renter confirmed the statements of witnesses that, machine, guns were ordered to be in readiness. Raying that lie was obliged to be in readiness for any eventuality. The order to have the gun's ready was given during the trouble early in November.
