BOLT FROM THE BLUE.

AN ENORMOUS METEOR.

Paris, January 10. The people of Western France were startled last night by an enormous meteor, which rushed across the sky at a terrific speed. Its passage was accompanied Infrequent deafening explosions, the violence of which was such that windows in many buildings were broken. The meteor was observed also from other parts of France, as it appeared to fall beyond the sea in the English Channel. It was at first thought that the disturbances caused by the phenomenon were due to an earthquake.
