Capetown, January 4. The unrest among the railwaymen is increasing. At a meeting held in Pretoria yesterday, resolutions were passed requiting the Premier of the Union of So,''-. Airier, (Gjiici' Botha) to a*'\r:' 0.. his i*>'*.kc'-\-m =.t bch>*;iie.
Th; miners at Johannesburg are arranging for, a general strike on the 7th inst unless a settlement is effected.
The iron at several of the Natal mines have already struck. The masters are prepared to give 17s .-. day, with 57 hours a w;ek, and time and a-quarter to be paid fjr overtime.
Seventy-nine indentured Indians have been fined, 10s, with the alternative of a week, for declining to work.
