ALLEGED VICTIMISATION.

* Wellington, Sunday. Btwotms of dissatisfaction amongst the tally clerks on the Wellington waterfront havo ken current during the lust few weeks, and investigation'shows the reports to be carter?. The union \of clerks was registered three weeks ago, and a great deal of discontent has arisen through alleged ( victimisation by the employers of several prominent members of the iict union. The latter is now inviting the employers to a conference lit as early a date as possible. The men allege thai a few favoured clerks are securing till the work to the exclusion of the other?.' Mr. R. A. Simpson, secretary of. tho Wellington Drivers' Union, is acting secretary of the new union.

The men's demands aw as follows Hpm of work, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., one hour to bo allowed for lunch, and 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.» All overtime to be paid for at the' rate of 2s 6d per hour. Work on oversea steamers, intercolonial, and Union (Company's services to 'be paid for at the rate of 12s 6d per day, plus squaring up of books,2s 'id. For extra half-days, from 1 p.m., 7s isd to be. paid, plus squaring up fee. ■ for overtime for work done between midnight on Slundayu and 8 a.m. on Mondays 4.8 per hour ;is askotl. Mr. Simpson states that tho employers cannot object to the new union, but reports that one employer who hoard of the formation of the new union sent round a petition calling upon the clerks rot to join. Mr. Simpson advised all mombers of the union to sign this to prevent victimisation. The latter, however, had gone on all the same, and he had reported one firm to the Labour Department, and would do so in all the other cases of victimisation.
