The various breeders of bloodstock in and around Auckland decided upon a pew departure this yea', and instead of holding a number of sales at various places, as in the past, they combined and brought off one big horse fair at Alexandra Park on Saturday. Perfect weather prevailed, and the largest attendance ever seen at an Auckland salj formed the ring of sportsmen and wouldbe buyers. Amongst those present were Sir James Carroll. Messrs. T. H. Nolan, acting on behalf of the New Zealand T.oan and Mercantile Agency Company, LU\., read the conditions, and proceeded with tie a. le. In all, 115 lots were catalogued, and 71 were disposed of. Fifty-two yearlings were listed, and 17 were sold. MOTITI ISLAND STUD. Twenty-two yeariings were submitted from the Motiti Island Stud, most of which were by the Defunct Seaton Delaval. Unfortunately, they had not done well on the trip up or since their arrivr.l here. They suffered in genera! appearance accordingly, and the highest price realised by one of the lot was 60 guineas. Most of the youngsters appeared to be ot the racy and useful order, and it will occasion no surprise should some good winners come from the lot next season. The plain-looking bat wellgrown colt by Seaton —Timbre went to Mr. J. Hawkins, of New Plymouth, at Sgns, while Mr. A. Attwood, of Fending, secured the shapely and sturdy little bay coll by Seaton DelavalAriel Fire for 30gns. The compact little St (ton Deiaval—Babe filly went cheaply at 15gns to the Rangitikei breeder, M:. Donald Fraser, and a stiffbuilt bay colt by Marble ArchM&rama was taken at llgns bj Mr. A. W. Jones, of Porongahau. A sturdy, nice-actioned filly by Penury—lie3perine fell to Mr. H. Friedlander's bid at 16gn". and at 27gns Mr. B. Weston took the Pukaki—Princess Ida filly, a well-grown youngster with a nice action. Mr. Jfta. Hand bought the Spalpeen—Lady's Link filly at Sine, and Mr. W. Jouchin the Seaton Delaval—Post Score ally at 23gns. the latter a big well-prown youngster. A shapely and solid-lc-.'ling chestnut colt by Seaton Delaval—Pi,,. r U a fell to Mr. J. Williams at 30gns, And the well-bred Seaton —Patricia inly went to Mr. E. Bird, of Coromandel. for 12gns. The neat Pukaki— Pansy filly was taken by Mr. Wilson at 25gns. and the Bunyan— Thistle youngster by Mr. J. McCarthy at 27gns. Mr. Jas. Patterson, of Onehunga, bcught the useful-looking colt by Seaton Delaval—Analogy, and Mr. H. Friedlandei became possessed of a nice filly by the same sire from Anadyomene for 26gns. A racylooking colt by Seaton Delaval—Tauriki went to Mr. G. Stewart for 30gns, and the Seaton Delaval—Gwendoline filly passed over to Mr. T. J. Stewart for 25gns. The last of the Motiti youngsters was a likely-looking colt by Seaton —Serita, and in three bids he-went to Mr. J. J. Craig at 60gns. A two-year-old by Seaton Delaval—Lady Apollo went to. Mr. F. Hull at lSgns; a colt by Motiti— Miss O'Connor, also two years old, was secured by Mr, A. Skinner, of Tauranga at 31gns.; while Mr. D. McLeod bought a filly of like age by Jewellery for 70gns. A tluree-year-old by Mciiti—Ariel Fire fell to Mr. J. J. Craig at 14gna. In all. the 20 yearlings realised 4osgns., an averaxs of iE2|gns. each, while the others brought is 136gna., or a total for this stud of 591gns. for 24 lota.

MR. W. DUNN'S LOT. - Bidding became a little more brisk when Mr. W. Dunn's well-done lot of five yearlings were brought along. After four bids the bay filly Nio Pie Hippo, by Elysian <—Missie Hippo, was knocked down to Mr. |C. Atkinson, of Christchurch. for 60gns. Marella. by Marble Seatonella, went to Mr. H. Friedlauder at 50gns. The strong- , on"' well-grown Marble Rose, a colt by : Marble Arch—Brown Rose, was taken at 80pis. by Mr. J. J. Craig. Maricia, a bay colt by Marble Arch from Alicia (a dam who progeny have been ill-fated in the past), opened at 50gns, and in sgn. bids went to 160gns., when Mr. T. Quinlivan. of Hawke's Bay, secured him. The last of Mr. Dunn's lot was Carlysian. a good-looking colt by Elysian—Cardoon, and he opened at lOOgns., and in 9.5gn. bids quickly reached ?25gns. In 10 and 20gn. bids ne went to SSOgna., and then to 375gns. by Mr. F. Davis. A bid from an unseen buyer sent the colt up to 400gns.. then came 420, 450, and finally Mr. F. Davis, at 475gn5., silenced the opposition on behalf of Mr. T. H. Lowry, amidst applause. The quintette offered by Mr. Dunn i brought 82ogns., an average of *65gns. each.

ASCOT STUD.. Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, of Ascot Stud, submitted ten yearlings, including the half-sister to Merry Roe, owned by Mr. F. Hall. Lot 1, the half-sister to Don Hannibal and Maui ma, by Penury—Hypttia, fell to Mr. T. Foley at llOgns, and then Mr. W. Ryan bought the big plain-looking filly by Penury —Lady B. for 35gns. A roan filly by Penury —Lycia, peculiarly marked, was taken at 85gns. by Mr. E. R. Cookson, of Christchurch, . and then Mr. C. Atkinson, of the same city, secured the colt by Penury— Cyirma cheaply at 27gns. The useful-looking filly by Penury—Cytherea went to Mr. A. Robinson at 2Sgns.—a cheap lot. Mr. J. J. Craig took the Penury— Hamadryad colt at 30gns., and then Mr. E. R. Cookson got the nicely-turned Elysian—La Cigale filly at lOOgns. The next lot, the bay colt by Elysian— Hester, was eagerly scanned, and the well-grown, shapely, and racylooking almost full-brother to Dearest, Master Soult, and Prince Son It, was voted " the goods " on all aides. A bid of lOOgns. was passed unnoticed, and ihen Mr. J. Chadwick opened at 200gna., which "was raised in 50gn. bids to 350gns. Bids of 25gns. sent the colt up to 450gna., at jgure Mr. Friedlander stopped. Then c. ue 475gn5., which Mr. Chadwick capped with SOOgns., and at that figure the colt was knocked down amidst hearty applause. Mr. Chadwick, it transpired, was acting for Mr. G. D. Greenwood. The Penury—Eton Lass colt, a half-brother to Home Rule, became Mr. J. Molloy's promty at 70gns., while Mr. W. Ryan, at one of 2008OV8. took the Penury—Erryroe fil:y. The Ascot lot brought in 1182gns or an average of 118 l-sgns each. GLENORA PARK STUD, On this occasion Mr. Wm. Walters had only five yearlings to offer, but they- were a nicely-bred lot. The colt by Marble Arch —Lady Rose went to Mr. E. R. Cookson at 70gns., and Mr J. C'haafe. jun..'secured the Marble Arch— jN if colt cheaply ,-.t 55gns A racy-looking colt by Marble Arch—Soult Girl passed to Mr. C. Lynch at (iOgns, while the neat filly by Marble Ar^h—Momi became Mr. .T. D. Kemp's property at 70gnf. The brown colt by. Marble Arch—Castle Blaney, suffering from a slight injury, went cheaply at 45gns to Mr. C. Dawson. The five lots sold at 300gns, an average of 60gns each. MR. T. H. LOWRY'S LOT. Five yearlings were catalogued in Mr. T. H. Lowry's name, and four were disposed of for 410gns, an average of 102igns each. The first, a big racy-looking fillv by Finland— Trebelli, fell to Mr. F. Loooib's bid at VOgns, and then Mr. C. Atkinson bought the Finland— filly at llOgns. The FinSonnette gelding, taken at 50gns by Mr T. Quinlivan, was a cheap lot, while a really nice filly by Finland—Cantatrice went to Mr. A. Alexander, of Hawera, at 180gns.

WAIKANAE STUD. Mr. Lan Duncan, of the Waikanae Stud, sold two of his three yearling* for 610gns. an average of 305gns. the best average of the day. A big half-sister to Balboa, by Bezonian from Nerve, opened at lOOgns, and travelled to 180gns. at which price she was transferred to Mr. Frank E. Ross, owner of Sail 3 and King Soult. The brown colt by —Success, and therefore a half-brother to the Derby winner Kilwinning, and the successful two-year-old Honesty, came in for a deal of attention. He is a well-grown colt, but inclined to be leggy. The first offer was 200 ms, and he quickly went up to 390gns, Mr. Iriedlander's bid, when there was a lull. Mr. Nolan, after some persuasion, got a bid of 400gns. to which Mr. Friedlander replied with 410gns. Then came 420gn6, and to the accompaniment of hand-clapping, Mr. H. Friedlaider took the colt at 430gns. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr. A. Bach offered the yearling filly by Bezonian— Hume, a nice, solid-looking youngster, and at 165gns she changed over to Mr. Jas. Hand, owner of Mnllingar. Mr. F. E. Ross evidently changed his mind about giving up racing, for he withdrew his horses from the sale, and also purchased another. A number of horses were submitted by various owners, as will be seen by the details of the sale. Forty-seven yearlings brought in 3947gn5, an average of a fraction under 84gns each, while 27 others realised 895gns, or an average of 33 4-27 each. Th» 71 lots were
