CARRYING ON SCOTT'S WORK. STACKHOUSE EXPEDITION. NEW ZEALAND GEOLOGIST. By Telegraph—Proas Association— Copyright (Koceivod Doconibor 21, 5.5 p.m.) , London, December 20. Mr. J. F. Stackhouse, who leaves next year in the Polaris to explore King Edward Land in the Antarctic, states that he hopes that two geologists, one from Australia and one from New Zealand, will volunteer to accompany his expedition, thereby making it of an Imperial character. STEFANSSON EXPEDITION. PEARY'S HOPEFUL VIEWS. New York, December 20. Commander Peary says that he has every confidence that Captain Bartlett will bo able to return to the Arctic regions. He does not believe that he perished aboard the Karluk. A long vessel, packed in ice, Commander Pear}- says, will not sink. In the event of the vessel getting loose and sinking the crew would have, had time to prepare to leave.
