ABERDEENSHIRE RIOT.

FARMER AND THE LAW.

MOB BREAKS UP SALE.

Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable.

(Received December 10. 6.20 p.m.)

London, December 10. A farmer in Aberdeenshire was some time ago fined for non-compli-ance with the Insurance Act. He refused to pay the fine and yesterday a cow belonging to him was seized by a sheriff's officer and taken to town for sale under police protection.

A crowd of 3000 farmers and others, however, pushed the animal and its attendants out of the market square.

The cow when last seen was galloping homewards.

The crowd chased the auctioneer into his shed, which was pelted with road metal. The police had to guard the doors.
