MR. MITCHELL'S POSITION

[NY telegraph.— correspondent.] Wellington, Tuesday. Hie Hon. A. L. Hmlman, Minister for Justice, in reply to a question from a Herald representative this evening, said that he had not received any requisition for a public inquiry regarding the circumstances of the transfer of Superintendent Mitchell from Auckland. In answer to a further question, the Minister said that ho had 110 statement to mako on the subject.
