Mr.- A. B. RonEKTON" left for Wellington by the first Main Trunk train yesterday.
Mr. J. McLennan, of Wellington, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is staying at the Star Hotel.
Colonel H. 0. Knox, Quartermaster General, arrived from Wellington yesterday on a visit of inspection.
Mr. A. L. Stanley (Governor-designate of Victoria) expects to sail from London lor Melbourne on January 21. — (Press Association.)
Captain and Mrs. Kennedy, of Wailieke, re on a visit to Auckland, and are staying at the Star Hotel. They intend to make a short tour of the Waikato.
TV. A. W. Averill. Bishop of Waiapu, and Bishop-elect of Auckland, left on his return to Napier by the Main Trunk express train last evening. He was accompanied by Mrs. Averill.
Tho Hon. Seymour Tliorne George, M.L.C., has been granted leave of absence until the end ot the session on account of ill-health. Similar leave has been granted the Hon. W. W. McCardle, M.L.C.—(Press Association.)
