OVER-INSURED FURNITURE.

FINDING AT INQUIRY ON FIRE.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Hastings, Monday. An inquiry into a fire which destroyed a four-roomed cottage in Hastings on August 11, was concluded to-day. Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M., the coroner, found that the furniture and effects in the house belonged mostly to Patrick McNamara, who had insured them in his own name for a sum much beyond their value, and that Mrs. Wells, a sub-lessee of the premises, at the request of McNamara, had insured the same furniture and effects in her name for £40. The coroner recommended that the actions of McNamara with reference to the dwelling and contents, should be further inquired into.
