WEEKLY HALF - HOLIDAY.
PROPOSED NEW POLL. BILL EXPECTED TO-DAY. PROBABLE DELAY IN PASSING. [BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL COBSESPONDEKT.'] Wellington, Monday. The, Prime Minister will give notice tomorrow of the introduction of the special Bill, which provides lor a new poll on the Saturday half-holiday question in the combined district of Auckland, which now includes the boroughs of Devonport and Takapuna, in addition to the boroughs which participated in the late poll. The road district of Eden Terrace will also be added to the district by the Bill. It is provided by the Bill that the new poll shall be taken within three months of the passage of the Act. The Bill will bs introduced on Wednesday, and will probably be referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The Bill cannot Bo passed before the conclusion of the financial debate, but the Labour _ Bills Committee will be able to consider it and report it back to the House, so that the discussion can be taken at the first opportunity. Mr. A. Harris, M.P. (Waitemata), expresses the opinion that if a fresh poll is to be taken other road districts contiguous to the oity, such as Remuera and Epsom, or all road districts within, say, a five-mile radius of the Chief Post Office, should also be included. He will probably move an amendment to this effect when the Bill is in committee.
