COMING EXHIBITION.
CARNIVAL OF FLOWERS. WEEK OF GAIETY PROPOSED. Arrangements are now being made for the holding of a six days' flower carnival, commencing on the day following the opening of the Auckland Exhibition. The president of the Exhibition commissioners, Mr. George Elliot, and the secretary of the Auckland Horticultural Society, Mr. W. Satchcll, met in oonference yesterday, and drafted a programme which will be submitted to committee for approval. The proposed schedule contains a quotation from Emerson, which appeals to the public in theee words : " Rich or poor, we are all one people; let us for this day put off the stiff mantles of our pride, and, robing ourselves in the garb of.folly, go forth and be happy together in the light of the sun." It is proposed to. bring the week of giiety to an end by the- holding of a floral gala on the Domain Cricket Ground on Saturday, December 6, and to give a prize of £2O to whoever is declared the queen of the carnival. Among other prizes it is proposed to give awards for the best floral costume, decorated group, living floral poeiers, gatden life competition, decorated mote-cars, bicycles, or motorcycles, decorated go-carts or perambulators, arsd decorated parasols. Finally it is intended to arrange for the appearance of 200 school children dressed to represent every known variety and shade of sweet pea. The carnival will b8 concluded by a procession of all the competitore.
