THE TRAMWAY SERVICE.

REMUERA COMPLAINTS. VICTORIA AVENUE EXTENSION. Fobthbr complaints regarding the Victoria Avenue tramway extension came before the Remuera Road Board at" its meeting' last night. The chairman, Mr. J. Derapsey, opened the snbject by stating that he had seen the traffic manager of the Tramways Company with regard to the time-table, and had been informed that a tally of the traffic on that particular lice was to be taken on the first fine day tSas week, with a view to something definite being arrived at. Mr. J. E. Lundon attended the meeting, ami stated that a new development had taken place with regard to ticket coupons. "Last Friday," ho said, "one conductor was* instructed to take none of these tickets at all. That day, for the first time, conductors on these cars took 2d tickets from.tha Grafton Bridge to Newmarket, but under no circumstances would they take them from Newmarket to the Grafton Bridge. The company is evidently in deadly fear that some one might go not only to the Grafton Bridge, but also on to Pitt Street. The company," added Mr. Lundon, "is treating the board and tho public like a pack of children." Mr. S. 'M. Moore-Jones suggested that Mr. Lundon should put his complaints in writing, to be forwarded by the board to the Tramways Company. "It is a clear case of dodging on the company's part," he added. Mr. J. B. Paterson wae la favour of the board drafting "a time-table and submitting; it to the company for approval. Several members spoke on the srbject, and all were agreed that the servico wan. wholly inadequate. It was finally decided that the committee sot up at a previous meeting to deal with the matter, together with Mr. Lundon, shall again wait on the tramways authorities.
