NORTHCOTE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Tun monthly meeting of the Northcote School Committee was held last night. Present: Messrs. P. McPhail (chairman). G, H. Lyon, F. ,M. Kins. A. W. Potter, and T. Lunny. It was decided to hold the annua! school picnic on February 7. to charter the Eafrlo for the occasion. Some discussion look place regarding the closing of the school for a fortnight to allow the teachers to attend tho physical culture clasae3, but no action was taken. The sum of £2O 18s was received from the Education Board towards the school fund. The Education Board wrote declining to entertain tho suKsestion for a wide school for Northcote. but statins that negotiations were proceeding to acquire a site of "four and a-hatf acres from tho Hospital Board for a main rchool for Northcote. The board al»o notified that Miss Margaret Moore, pupil teacher, had been appointed to the staff of the school. The headmaster. Mr F. Murphy, reported that ov.incr to the prevailing epidemic, tho attendance had fallen brlow tho average. He anticipated an improvement when the school reopened.
