Taylor, chief engineer of the Atua, has come ashore on holiday leave. He is being relieved by Mr. G. Skinner, late chief engineer of the Kurow. Bough weather prevented the Rosamond from working Tolago Bay on Sunday, and she proceeded on to Gisborne, where she arrived early yesterday morning. She left Gisborne last night for Tolago Bay to land cargo before coming on to Auckland. Mr. Cassie. sixth engineer of the Mahono. signed off v the vessel's articles yesterday. . The derelict scow Tramp was towed into Sydney on August 1 from the Manning River. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Ruahine is now expected to arrive at Auckland at daybreak to-morrow from Napier. The vesiiel is due at AucklUnd about September S. THE RIVERINA. The Huddart-Parker steamer Riverina. 4758 ton 3. was due at Sydney en Friday last, from Frcmantlo and way porta. The vessel, which has been selected to replace the Wimmera in the Sydhey-Auckland-East Coast service, leaves the New South Wales port to-morrow afternoon for Auckland. She is due here on Sunday next, and a3 she will be visiting Auckland for tho first time, a great deal of interest will no doubt ba taken in her arrival. MAITAI DELAYED. The local office of the Union Company advises that tho Maitai. en route from Dunedin and Ens! Coast ports to Auckland, has been delayed by heavy rain at Lyttelton. She left the latter port last night for Wellington, one day behind her usual time. The Maitai is to leave Wellington at 5 p.m. today for Napier, Gisborna. Tokomr.ru Bay, and Auckland, and is now due on Friday morning, INDRALEMA AT MELBOURNE. The Tyser liner Indralema is reported by cablegram to have arrived at Melbourne on Saturday last from London, which port she left on June 22. After visiting Sydney, the vessel comes to Auckland, being due here about August 26. j She has 4610 tons of cargo on board for this port, after discharge ot which she proceeds to Nanier and Wellington to put out the balance. Captain W. H. Lea is now in command of the Indralema.

INTERCOLONIAL SERVICE. The volume of frame in passengers and general cargo between Sydney. Wellington. Southern porta, Hobart. and Melbourne has of late shown such a marked decrease that the Union Company has decided to withdraw the Manuka from this sexvice on bar arrival at Dunedis from Sydney, via Wellington and Lyttelton, on Saturday next. Where nassenger traffic is concerned the decision arrived at by the company to lay up several.of its steamers is probably due to the smallpox outbreak. The Manuka will lay. Tin-at Port Chalmers for an indefinite period, and consequently no passenger steamer will leave fhe Bluff on Monday next for Hobart and Melbourne. The Union Company has deeided, however, to despatch the Kaituna from Dunedin on. Saturday for Hobart and Melbourne, carrying carjio only.
