' DISSATISFIED PFTItIO^FRiS." • [BY TEUWRAPH.—SPECUi COEBESFONrjETSiT.] Wellington, Friday. ■ A parlxamektaby inquiry into the "recent railway collision at New Lynn is asked for in a petition which wan presented to the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. J. Bollard (Eden). The petition is signed by Archibald Grandison and 23 others (residents of New Lynn, Henderson, Avondale, and Auckland), who state that they are not satisfied with the train arrangements at New Lynn Station as regards the safety of the travelling public, and therefore desire that an inquiry should be held. Some time ago the Hon. W. H. Hemes (Minister for Railways) stated in response to a request for a public inquiry into the New Lynn collision that he had no power to grant such an inquiry in the ordinary way, but that if Parliament were petitioned to institute a committee of inquiry he would do what ho coulu to facilitate the request.
