, —_. i . ♦ — The old Masonic Hall has been converted into a handsome building from plans prepared by Mr. Grierson, of Auckland. The structural alterations include a new lodgeroom, 36ft by 26ft, on the second storey, cloakroom 22ft by 16ft, kitchen 16ft by 15ft, candidates .room 13ft by 12ft, enlarged entrance hall, new staircase, new lavatories, and an ornamental front to the building. The old lodgeroom, 32ft by 25ft, has been renovated and repainted, and will in future be let for lectures, concerts, etc. The work has been carried out by Mr. Waddell. The new hall will be opened within the next, fortnight. A meeting of the Otahuhu Ratepayers' Association was held last evening, Mr. T. R. Hebden presiding. The delegates appointed to attend the last meeting of the Borough, Council, presented their reports, which were adopted. A complaint was made of an alleged excessive charge for town water. Complaints " were also made in regard to the sanitary service and Mr. J. Wilson, a member of the council, replied that this contractor was fined 5s for every case of neglect. The chairman considered that where fines were imposed they should be paid to the landlord.
