BOROUGH AS BANKER.
SCHEME IN WANGANUI.
[BY (TELEGRAPH.— ESS ASSOCIATION.] Wanganiji, Wednesday. With regard to the Gisborne Borough's proposal to accept money on temporary
loans from local residents, this is no new [scheme as far as Wanganui is concerned. Some three years ago the then Mayor inaugurated a scheme by which money is accepted, being repayable at • call. The rate of interest is 3£ per cent., instead of the 4 per cent, proposed by Gisborne. The scheme found great favour, the amount on deposit being usually some £20,000.
