EPSOM ROAD BOARD.
The Epsom Eoaa Board met last evening. There ■were present:—Messrs. F. H. Wood (acting chairman), A. McDonald, E. Clay, and 11. Q. Clark.
Mr. Wood gave notice of motion, That at the next meeting of the board, to be held on June 26, the following rates should be struck for the ensuing year:—General rate of 2d in the £, Hospital and Charitable Aid rate of one-eighth of a penny in the £, and a drainage rate of one-six-teenth of a penny in the & on the capital value of all ratable property in the Epsom Boad district, for the period of one. vear, commencing April 1, 1913, and ending March 31, 1914." The rates proposed to be struck are similar to those that were in force for the previous year. It was resolved to renew the lward's application to the Government for the loan of £55,000 for the drainage of the district. Several. ratepayers sent in a requisition urging that the board should call a meeting of the ratepayers to discuss the advisability of forming a fire brigade in the district. It was resolved to reply stating that the board was now considering a scheme to provide the district with flre-tighling facilities.
