A PLUCKY RESCUE.

CHILD SAVED FROM DEATH.

By the bravery and promptitude of a young man, on Saturday, a little boy of about two years of age was saved from almost certain death in Wellington. The child was in charge of a young girl, but ran from her side and stopped on the tram track in front of a car which was rapidly running down the incline within 40yds of him. Immediately ho. was seen the motorman applied the brakes, and at the same moment a young man, who had been standing on the opposite footpath, rushed across the road, caught the child by one hand as he ran, and managed to clear the tramcar by a few 'inches. The car was pulled up over the very spot where the child was standing a moment before Death seemed a certainty till this unknown rescuer carried the child unharmed into safety.
