Matters in connection with the Remuera tramway .extensions were before the Road Board ''last' evening. *■»' - ; ' - v-
The Auckland Electric Tramways Company; intimated that it was now waiting to complete" the junction of the Victoria Avenue line with the main line in Remuera Road, but • was unable to proceed further with the work until the board cuts back the western corner at the junction of the post office reserve. A further letter pointed out that the company desired shortly to open the extension from Green Lane to Mountain Road for traffic. At the present time, however, the letter Btated, there were several places in which the, roadway under the board's control had not been made up to the level of the company's cubes, the most noticeable one being at the terminus, where the rail projected some . inches above ' the roadway. Other instances. wero to be found on the southern side of the road, where the stone setts would have to be relaid, owing to insufficient backing up. The same applied to the Victoria Avenue extension.
The board's engineer remarked that the Tramways Company had put in insufficient metal to back up the cubes, and the consequence was that they had fallen away from tho line. Mr. Paterson said that the end objected to had been attended to. ■
The second letter was referred, to the engineer, who was instructed to ascertain the true state of affairs, while it was decided to accede to the company's request in connection with the cutting away of the western corner at the junction. .
