[by TELEGRAPH.—OWK , correspondent.] Gisbornk, Friday. - When the steamer Inga passed East Cape at mid-day yesterday, Captain Bull signalled the lighthouse-keeper, to report the vessel to Gisborne, but he received a reply that the telegraph communication ,was out of order, and the message could not be despatched. ' ... Recently a' defect was discovered in the cable connecting the island with the mainland,' between high and low water, and the matter was put right. The present trouble will probably be: found , more serious, ; and may necessit tate the Tutanekai;, visiting East Island and lifting the cable. -
