; ;ST. . THOMAS'S," UNION STREET..'. The ; annual meeting: of parishioners of St. Thcmas's .Church, Union. Street, was held ,in the Parish Hall on the evening of - Ascension Day. Previous to. the meeting , evensong- was sung in the church. Them was a 'good; attendance. of pj rishioners 'and' - , friends.'' The vicar (Rev. H. A. Pavel!) presided. The v annual report of the vestry and the - accounts .fori the year were adopted by the meeting. : The report showed , a steady growth in all departments of parish work, : and » made re-, ference .to a year of loyal, co-operation and~vcomradeship. A . Communicants' Guild • has been formed, and a monthly service of preparation for th© -Holy Communir«. 'is held in connection therewith. The - Sunday-school ■ report, presented on behalf of Mr. :H. Peake, superintendent, I was ■also-of a' satisfactory nature, and showed, .that the work had been . well;maintained during trie year. - The - vestry expressed , their hearty ; appreciation of the- splendid- response made to the appeal for the enlargement of the Parish Ball - the whole amount necessary having 7 be.en • received during the year. An - increase in r the amount of the general * offertory ris 'recorded. 'The total income for : parish . purposes from all ' sources ': was £756 9s 6d; expenditure, on account of extra necessary expenses, amounted to £780 19s - lid. The amount ■ contributed for - diooesan and : missionary work outside the parish was £51 10s. The report : acknowledges • ■ several : gilts made ;to the Church and parish during the year, and -gives, hearty acknowledgment of the self-denying efforts of- many : parishioners and ' friends. .- > Mr. J. H. Hine was re-appointe<l to be -vicar's ■ warden ; Mr. W. H. Armstrong was re-elected as people's. warden. Mr. Raymond Woods, to whom a. hearty vote of thanks was accorded for - his previous work,, was re-elected auditor,. - Messrs. J. ' ,T. Woods, D.. Dunningham,' T. Dunningham, F. Kearslev, Baker, .
