HAMILTON. i{ . - PARISHIONERS' MEETING. - At the annual meeting of parishioners of "St. Stephen's Church, the annual report while referring to . the consequences of many needs, stated there . were evidences of increased life to be thankful for, ' particularly the work of the Sunday-schools. Financially there was little- improvement shown, and if the parish had ; been fully staffed there would be a shortage of some £18. The report was adopted. Officers we're i appointed as follows Mr. F. A. Snell,; vicar's warden ; Mr. A. Swarbrick, people's warden; vestrymen, Messrs. English/Hall, Heywood, Holloway, and Whitton; sidesmen. Messrs. Le Quesne, . Ratcliff,. Stace, Wilkins; auditor, Mr. H. V alder. Information in regard to the new church showed that the trustees had some £1100 in hand, and it was estimated that they could borrow, say, £1600, this left an additional £2500 to be collected. The committee had already received promises of £2075. on condition that , the rtvhola sum of £2500 was obtained . by, December 31 next, and that tenders were ; called by March ' next. -With a thorough canvass arid the' loyal support and /interest • of the parishioners, the amount would be obtained. The House ; Committee presented the following schedule of nurses' salaries, .which was approved, probationers to remain as at present. - first year £20,. second £25, thira; £30, certificated or. charge nurses £50. first-year sister £70, second £75, third £80, fourth-year or later-£BS ; • matron's ' salary to be - "increased from £120 to £140, theatre sister 10a. per month additional, acting matron at the rate of £100 per annum, with, the minimum of. one week. The employment of , an assistant matron or a house steward was > deferred: until • Dr. Douglas's return. Strong protests were made by . the members representing, the Raglan and Waipa Counties, against the .revision of , the representation ; of the . contributing districts of the .board.
