CITY ROLLS CLOSE TO-DAY.

Those who desire to ■ exercise their vote in connection with I the City Council, Harbour Board, and Hospital and Charitable Aid Board elec* > turns should make aura that their namesare enrolled, for if their names have been omitted from the roll they will lose the opportunity of recording their votes. The main roll of the city haa closed,with a total of 84,656 names, and the supplementary roll, which closes to*d»y, will pro-' bably contain another 8000 names. The local body electibria will take place on Ap:il 50. This will be the first occasion i when so many electfonSj, 'different | issues, will have taken place on one day,! and it is, therefore, desirablo that electors; should take the fullest advantage of their widely extended jjiivitcges. A general impression had prevailoo up to the present that the city would be spared the expense of a Mayoral contest, as the sitting Mayor (Mr. C."J. Parr) had consented to stand for a further terra, at the unanimous request of the members dlf the council. This impression has been | dispelled, however, for Mr. Hall Skelton, j at the request of a deputation which waited upon him yesterday, consented to stand ] as a candidate for the Mayoralty. It will be remembered that at ~ the Mayoral election held last year Mr. Paw j received 10,093 votes, as against 3543 re-j corded for Mr. Skelton. ■/:,] Mr. Ghns.
