CHARGE AGAINST LIBERALS.
REFUSING TO AID MOTHER
COUNTRY.

Ottawa, March 25. The Prime Minister of Canada (Mr. Borden), in replying -to Sir Wilfrid Laurier's manifesto on the naval question, says that if contracts were let immediately for the construction of three battleships they would not be completed until .the next general election. Then, jif the Canadian people show that they believe tiiafc. the ships ought to be recalled from, British waters the Government could recall them, and then proceed to build a 'Canadian fleet. :, Mr. Borden denies diit any attempt has been made to gag discussion in the House, and states that | the. Liberals have provided the regrettable spectacle to the world and I the Empire of refusing to -grant the ! aid to the Mother Country which ! her Ministers, asserted, that she i needed.' ■ .'.„',.'
