DEVONPORT POWER SCHEME.

MATTER FOR RATEPAYERS. The special meeting of the Devonport Borough Council to consider the electrification scheme promoted by Mr. D. M. Davis, which was adjourned from Tuesday night, was continued last night. There were present the Mayor (Mr. W. Handley) and Messrs. Tapper, Nixon, Considine, Cranch, McLean, Allen, Quartley, and Parsons. Mr. A, Wylie (city electrical engineer), Mr. Davis and his solicitor, and Mr. / Prendergast, the board's solicitor, were also present. A lengthy discussion took place on the question of whether the scheme should be first submitted to the ratepayers. It was finally decided, on the motion of Mr. Cranch, that any agreement passed by the council should be submitted to the ratepayers on the day of the municipal electi'svnc—AnrU 13.
